Hey everyone! I thought I'd drop this little info for you gamers out here. Its a little late but what the heck, ill post it for your reading pleasure. Well about 2 months ago i used to be a owner of a PSP system.
I have to say right off the bat that I'm no gamer so that was pretty much my first gaming experience. I was always one of those kids that was into buying an iPod but i also wanted a mp3 player/video player. Then this year came along the PSP. I was really intrigued by it, specially when i saw it in person at my workplace , i was in awe. This thing is so sleek and smooth.
The screen displays some amazing video capability of a DVD quality! The pictures are awesome and very crisp and smooth on it. The mp3 playback is much better then on some MP3 players that i had, specially when u have a screen with track info, image of the album etc. The money came along, so i jumped the gun and bought the combo kit with Spider-Man 2 movie and Gretzky NHL. I was so hooked on this system, watching over and over the SM2 movie.
Those ear buds are so amazing, it makes it sound as if your in a theater when watching a movie! To be honest , i never played Gretzky on it, i just didn't like hockey. I looked at the demo UMD disk included and saw some cool games available for it, like Ridge Racer. I spent so much money into this thing since i got it that its crazy. For the games, i had ; Ridge Racer, NFS : underground rivals , Twisted Metal , Wipeout Pure (for the browser , lol). The movies were; Hellboy, Once upon a time in Mexico, Boogeyman.
This console is alot of fun. Sometimes its awkward when you try watching a movie, specially without a stand, but hey, its a handheld. Sometimes if theres alot of noise around i find the volume is pretty low, even with the ear buds. Another issue was the batter life, known to be less performing than the DS one.
The thing that was very disappointing to me , was the lack of cool gadgets for it. With so many cool rumors around, such as camera, keyboard and other cool stuff for the PSP and nothing actually appearing in stores, make you wonder. The lack of updates for the PSP also was one problem i had with it. Sony rumored to put cool new features in the next update such as an official web browser and to date still nothing. That was a big problem with the PSP , so many promises, yet nothing real. A big issue i had with it was the fact its memory sticks are so expensive, and the fact the PSP had no internal hard disk as some mp3 players out there. A memory stick, the GB ones are about half the price of the current console , it makes you think twice. If that ever changes, then the PSP will truly become the media tool to have.
That is the main reason why i got rid of it, the lack of goodies and deals for it (memory stick). I also needed a camera more that a console since im a movie buff. Well i kinda miss it, and i will probably get one again when hopefully it will be more advantageous. The games btw were very fun, and the one i was mostly addicted to was NFS since it had different challenges and you could customize the cars. Ridge racer had quite better graphics then NFS although it gets very repetitive and boring after awhile. A very arcady game! GT4 looks to be a very promising game for the PSP specially with this catchy little tag line they have on the box "this version is not at all inferior to its PS2 version" , very curious. Twisted metal btw was kinda hard to get a grip of, with the controls. Its entertaining but a hard game i found it to be personally.
Thats it for me now. If you got any questions to which i might have an answer concerning the PSP , ask away. There's also Los-Da and kikuchiyo that got to try it, so if they want to post they're reviews as well.
